Correos (Spanish Post)
Postal services are provided by Correos in Spain, also known as Sociedad Estatal de Correos y Telegrafos, S.A. Correos is a public company with a rich history dating back to 1716 when King Philip V appointed Juan Tomás de Goyeneche as the Chief Superintendent and Administrator General of Post Offices. Today, Correos is wholly owned by the state through the State Society for Industrial Participation (SEPI) and has over 53,000 employees. The company handles approximately 5.4 billion mail items annually. It operates more than 10,000 postal centers throughout Spain and in Andorra through a bilateral agreement with the French company La Poste.
